Adaptive Swim Lessons

All of our lessons are done in a private or semi-private setting to optimize the learning potential for each swimmer. With one Adaptive Swim Instructor paired with one or two students at a time, swim goals are created on an individualized basis.

We have four sessions each year: Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. When signing up for a session, you get to choose from the instructors and times available at each location. Upon signing up for a session, you are committing to the same time each week.

Enrollment is done on a rolling basis in the following order:

1. Families from the most recent session

2. Families from previous sessions

3. New families

After signing up, you will receive an intake form where you can detail your child's interests, strategies that work for them, and any sensory regulation details that may be beneficial for your child's instructor to be aware of. This process assists our instructor with preparing for your child's lesson and the ability to build a trusting relationship with them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to get in the water during my swimmer's lesson?

No, we actually prefer for parents to stay out of the pool to encourage swimmers to build a trusting relationship with their instructor. However, we understand every swimmer is different and may need additional support. If you believe it would be most conducive to your swimmer's learning to be in the water with us, we welcome you. Otherwise all of our pools have seating available with optimal viewing of the lesson.

My swimmer is terrified of the pool. Is it worth it to sign them up?

We welcome all stages of learning to swim. We can play games on the pool deck, practice getting parts of our body wet, stay on the stairs or zero-depth entry to the pool. Our goal is for swimmers to feel safe and respected. We will honor their boundaries, but encourage their participation. We will never dunk a child underwater or pull a swimmer into the pool when they are having a meltdown.

My swimmer is deaf/hard of hearing, blind, or nonspeaking. Can you teach them?

Yes, our instructors have some ASL knowledge and we have laminated AAC pages for swimmers to communicate. We can use hand over hand techniques and are always willing to try new strategies if you have suggestions that may help us. Our instructors work with all abilities. We have swimmers who are nonspeaking that can tread water and dive. A diagnosis is a label, not a limitation.

My swimmer is not toilet trained. Can they still do lessons?

Yes! As long as your swimmer has a swim diaper they can get in the pool. We kindly ask that if your swimmer is having stomach issues, you contact the instructor and cancel for the week. Swim diapers are not always able to hold loose stools and we will have to shut down the pool if the swim diaper is not containing everything.

My swimmer has medical conditions. Is it safe for them to swim?

We believe the water is therapeutic and should be accessed by everyone. As long as your physician says it is safe for them to be in a pool they are welcome! If your swimmer has a history of seizures, we request a copy of the seizure action plan. G-buttons are allowed in the pool when kept clean and closed.

Swimmer Success Stories!

Layla,12 year old girl with CHARGE Syndrome;

hearing loss, vision loss, vestibular differences, and sensory processing difficulties

“Layla was a little girl who was terrified to even walk near the edge of the pool 2 years ago and would not even get in the water! We had already tried several different locations in the Omaha area for lessons but none of them were able to remain patient with Layla and work with her specific needs. We were actually asked by one program not to sign up again because there was nothing they could do to get her in the water. We were discouraged and frustrated to say the least.

We are so grateful to have found All Inclusive Aquatics a short time later! Megan and her staff have been nothing short of amazing with Layla. They have helped her overcome her fear of the water, worked with her sensory issues, and even have taken the time to learn ASL so that she can communicate in the water without her hearing aids. They always ensure she feels safe and in control.

Although she is still working on swimming independently, the joy and excitement on her face in the water is absolutely everything!! We have no doubt she will achieve her goal of floating on her own soon! We are so proud of her progress and have Megan and her team of professional and patient instructors to thank!!”
